Ann Toews is the Lt. Gen. Bernard E. Trainor USMC Fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute, where she reports on religion, global politics and international development. She formerly served as a military intelligence officer with the 173rd Airborne Brigade in Europe and Afghanistan and contributed to reactivating the 207th Military Intelligence Brigade in support of U.S. Army Africa. Her writing has also appeared in The Diplomat, The American Interest and other publications.
