Hassan Ould Moctar is a writer, researcher and consultant interested in migration, borders and development, with a regional focus on Mauritania, the West African Sahel and the Sahara. He holds a doctoral degree from the Department of Development Studies in SOAS University of London and has held postdoctoral fellowships at SOAS and the London School of Economics. His book, “After Border Externalization: Migration, Race, and Labour in Mauritania,” is forthcoming from Bloomsbury Publishers.
