John Aerni-Flessner is an associate professor at Michigan State University in the Residential College in the Arts and Humanities, where he teaches African and world history. He is the author of “Dreams for Lesotho: Independence, Foreign Assistance, and Development,” as well as many academic and journalistic articles on the history and contemporary politics of Lesotho.
