Nate Schenkkan is project director for “Nations in Transit,” Freedom House’s annual survey of the former Soviet Union, Eastern Bloc and Yugoslavia. He has co-authored two special reports for Freedom House on Turkey’s media and Internet. Before joining Freedom House, he worked as a journalist in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, and hosts the Central Asianist Podcast.
