Scott Simon
Scott Simon is a professor in the School of Sociological and Anthropological Studies at the University of Ottawa. He directs a research chair in Taiwan Studies, and is also a researcher with the Human Rights Research and Education Centre and the Centre for International Policy Studies. He is Senior Fellow for Taiwan, Human Rights, and the Indo-Pacific at Ottawa’s Macdonald-Laurier Institute. He has written three books, as well as numerous journal articles and book chapters, about Taiwan. Focusing on the Sediq and Truku peoples, he has specialized in Indigenous rights and political resurgence for the past 20 years, but is increasingly interested in the broader geopolitical dynamics of peoples in the Western Pacific.
