Yuan Ren is a bilingual journalist who has written on Chinese science, technology and culture for The New York Times, The Guardian, The Spectator and Wired. Originally from Beijing, she began her career as the Around Town editor at Time Out Beijing, before becoming a regular contributor to The Telegraph and a columnist for Prospect magazine. She is currently based in London and works as a freelance producer and reporter for Bloomberg TV and the BBC World Service.
