Democratic Republic of Congo: President Felix Tshisekedi was declared the winner of Congo’s Dec. 20 presidential election by the country’s electoral commission on Sunday. Tshisekedi received more than 73 percent of the vote, although only 18 million people cast ballots, less than half of the 44 million people registered to vote in Congo. (New York Times)
