Hello, everyone. Today at WPR, we’re covering the growing calls for a cease-fire in Gaza and the diverging paths of Brazilian and U.S. democracy.
But first, here’s our take on today’s top story:
Israel genocide case: The International Court of Justice, or ICJ, began hearings today on the case brought by South Africa accusing Israel of committing genocide in Gaza. The hearings today and tomorrow will focus only on South Africa’s request for emergency measures, including a potential order for Israel to suspend its military actions in Gaza, with a decision expected in the coming weeks. A hearing and final determination on the allegations of genocide will likely not come for many years. (Reuters)
