Today at WPR, we’re covering visa-free travel in Africa and the global implications of the Israel-Hamas war.
But first, we’re taking a look at the current state of the Israel-Hamas war on the ground in Gaza, which enters its seventh week tomorrow. While we have made an effort over that time to not focus on the war in Gaza to the exclusion of important developments elsewhere in the world, the events of the past few days make this a good time to take stock.
Many of the major themes that we focused on in the first few weeks of the war are still pertinent: growing divides between governments and public opinion among Israel’s Arab partners; growing global condemnation of Israel’s actions in Gaza; and growing popular opposition to support for Israel by governments in the U.S. and Europe, as well as within the Democratic Party in the U.S. and the Labour Party in Britain.
