Fighting in Khartoum Threatens to Unravel Sudan Cease-Fire

Fighters from Sudan’s rival factions battled around the main military installation in central Khartoum and other parts of the country’s capital Thursday, threatening to unravel the latest attempt at a cease-fire as foreign governments looked for ways to extract their citizens trapped in the conflict.

Biden to Pledge $500 Million to Stop Deforestation in Brazil

President Biden on Thursday will pledge $500 million over five years to fight deforestation in Brazil, a White House official said, in a move that would make the United States one of the largest donors to the global Amazon Fund.
